France, or French Republic is the country more visited in the world, just like Paris, which is the city most visited in the world! This country of Western Europe is member of the European Union, of which it is one of the countries founders. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the West, the English Channel and the North Sea in North. In the East, France divides its borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland. In the South, it is bordered by the Mediterranean, Monaco and Italy, like by the principality of Andorra and Spain in South-west. France counts to 64,5 million inhabitants if one included the overseas territories. Those have various administrative statutes and are located in North America, in South America, in the Antilles, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and in the Antarctic.
Geography: France is the third country of Europe by its surface, after Russia and the Ukraine. Excluded its North-eastern border, its borders are mainly natural, since they are composed of mountainous chains, rivers, and especially, of maritime frontages. Thus, the overall length of its east coasts of 3427 km. The landscapes there are very varied. The North of France is rather characterized by the coastal plains whereas the South is partly very mountainous. (solid mass of the Alps in South-east and the Pyrenees in South-west). But in spite of its many mountainous solid masses, the low areas dominate France. Thus, the two fifths of the territory are occupied by two sedimentary basins: the Paris basin and the Aquitanian basin.
Mountains and rivers: The culminating point of all Western Europe is located in the French Alps, in the South-west of France: it is about Mont Blanc, with its 4810 meters. In South-east, one finds the Pyrenees. But one should not forget the older solid masses, like Corsica, the Massif Central, the Jura, the Vosges, the Armorican solid mass and the Ardennes. France also has many rivers, whose principal ones are the Loire, the Rhone, the Garonne and the Seine, the Meuse, the Rhine and the Scheldt.
Climate and advised season: France is overall in the moderate zone and the prevalence of the oceanic winds and the Gulf Stream explains the softness of its climate. One can differentiate several climatic zones all the same. At the edge of the ocean, it is the oceanic climate which dominates: it is characterized by relatively soft winters and rather fresh summers. Precipitations are frequent throughout the year. The more one goes down towards the South, the more the oceanic climate softens. Around the Pyrenees, it resembles the continental climate. In the center of France, one finds the oceanic climate degraded, which means that the influence of the ocean is still present, but with a less degree. There is less of rains. In the East of France, the climate is almost continental. The winters are harder there and the hotter summers. Around the Mediterranean, it is the Mediterranean climate which dominates. The rains are not very frequent and irregular. The summers can even be very dry. Lastly, there is the climate of mountain, which reigns mainly in the Alps and the Pyrenees, but also in the Massif Central, the Solid mass of the Vosges and the Solid mass of the Jura. Precipitations are more numerous there and the differences in temperature are large according to altitude where one is.
The most beautiful season to visit France is that which goes from May to September. The vegetation is then particularly luxuriant and the many festivals. Of course, the skiers will prefer the season of winter! As for Paris, one can visit it in any season, each one of it having a quite particular charm.
Language (S) and communication: The French is the official language of France, even if this country is particularly pluriculturel, and thus also multilingual. Besides it forms part of the countries of Western Europe which have greatest linguistic diversity. The regional languages are not there remains about it since there are 77 in all France.
Health and vaccines: The health system and the sanitary arrangements satisfy the best European standards. No vaccine is obligatory in France. It however is recommended to be vaccinated against the polio, the diphteria and tetanus.
Conditions of entry in France: To penetrate on the French soil, the nationals of the countries of the European Union must simply provide themselves with a national card of identity or a valid passport, France belonging to Schengen space. If you are not amenable to the European Union and wish to remain in France less than 3 months, you will have to obtain a visa short stay or visa of tourism.
Arrival and displacements on the spot: France is a country served very well. That it is by plane, train or in the bus, it will be easy for you to organize your voyage. The two principal airports are Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly.

One of the best means to discover Paris is the boat-taxi, which serves various stations along the Seine and offers an overall good sight on the city, without having to undergo the traditional congestions. However, the network of subway and bus is also very dense and will take you along well beyond the historical center of the city. And indeed, it would be a shame to be satisfied with the downtown area. The surroundings of Paris conceal sumptuous castles. An excursion with the castle of Versailles is the one afternoon business!
Lastly, there are not only its architectural wonders and its historical heritage which make the charm of Paris. Its intense cultural life, its coffees, its shops, that also, it is Paris!. It should be said that Paris is the most populated city France (2 153.600 for intramural Paris). It is also the economic capital, commercial and cultural of France, and the single department commune of the country.
Tourist sites: France is not for nothing the country more visited in the world. Its architectural and cultural heritage is indeed impressive. Concurrently to Paris, other French big cities dispute the title of cultural capital: between Lille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseilles the Eastern one or Lyon, which are classified with the world heritage of humanity, competition do not miss! Marseilles for example, will be able to allure you by his cosmopolitan and Mediterranean side, its animated lanes, the spice scents and the small bars of the old man-port, which will serve the best bouillabaisse to you of the country. Very close from there, the Blackcurrant creeks will be able to fill with wonder you, just like the white horses of the Camargue or the splendid cornices and sand beaches end of the Riviera. Not far from there, Provence with its fields of lavenders and its villages perched will charm you, just like the red of Estérel, the lanes of Saint-Tropez or Corsica - Corsica -, who is accessible by boat starting from Nice or of Marseilles.
For those which prefer the large waves, impossible to resist the charm of the Atlantic coast and its multiple facets: that they are the spots of surfing of Biarritz, the dune of Pilat - which is highest all the same of Europe -, or the Mount Saint-Michel in Normandy, which is classified with the inheritance of UNESCO, the Atlantic coast will be able to surprise you. In France, each area distills a very particular charm. Among them, Brittany is particularly appreciated travellers, because of its splendid landscapes and of its well anchored traditions, most known being the culinary tradition of crepes, miam!
Among the most visited places France, one also finds the Loire ch4ateau. In the middle of green landscapes, you will discover these architectural wonders which are the castles of Chambord, jewel of the rebirth, or those of Blois, Chenonceau, Amboise or Azay-the-Curtain.
For the amateurs of hurdy-gurdies stones, let us not forget the Dordogne and its splendid medieval cities, such Sarlat. In the same way, the South of France conceals Roman vestiges, as you will be able to see them for example in Avignon, Orange or Aix in Provence.
But France still conceals many treasures that it is impossible for us to approach here. Even the areas which was formerly a little forgotten tourists currently know a strong renewed interest. Its capital, Lille, are a wonder of Flemish architecture and its large places, one of most beautiful of France.

The religion most practiced in France is Catholicism, with 56%. 31% are without religion, 4% are Moslem, 3% are Protestant and 1% are Jewish.
